Telangana - 29th - How many more...?

The Beautiful Game

Football, the most popular game on this planet is growing more and more popular each day. Football is played at national as well as club level and is the national sport for many countries across the globe. Football players are worshipped like gods in many countries and the way this game is practiced, followed and supported is nothing less than a religion. It is called the beautiful game not only because of its high tempo and exciting nature but also because of the passion of supporters and fans whose devotion to the game and the team and the club they support sometimes is fanatical

Football is basically played between two teams consisting of eleven players each, with an objective of using their feet to get the ball into opponent’s goal which are situated on either side of a rectangular field. The game is played for 90 minutes with a perfectly spherical ball, 28’ in diameter. The game is played on basis of 17 basic rules called as the “laws of the game” which are monitored by referee, linesmen and other officials. Each team of eleven consists of one goal keeper and the remaining ten are divided into defenders, midfielders and attackers.

A Customizable Smartphone

Gone are those days when people used to buy a single branded desktop computer. Now they want an assembled one which has a Quad-core processor to go with a specific motherboard and a particular DDR5 graphics card to satisfy the gaming requirements. Thus, Customization led to Optimization! Now imagine you could do that to your Smartphone..!

Do you like to use your ‘Phablet’ exclusively for gaming? Well, go for a multi-core processor and a full HD display. Do you like to share your special moments on Instagram? Go for a high megapixel camera with better focus. Or do you like to use your phone simply as an IPod? Just go for Bluetooth 4.0 and a high mAh battery. Thus make your phone really ‘Smart’. Phonebloks came up with this idea in late 2013 where different components called ‘Bloks’ can be attached to the main board and thus the users can personalize their smartphones.

Facebook-WhatsApp, a crazy deal?

In recent times, the most renowned billion dollar acquisitions have been in the web domain. To name a few, Yahoo acquired the famous Tumblr  for  $1.1 billion, Microsoft acquired Skype for a whopping $8.5 billion, Facebook acquired Instagram for $1billion and the Japanese firm Rakuten acquired Viber for $0.9 billion. India too isn’t behind in the website race. The online shopping giant Flipkart is in talks for merging with its competitor Myntra at Rs.300 crores, while the restaurant guide Zomato is valued at Rs.1000 crores.

Love 2.0

Famous Italian Physicist - Enrico Fermi
Enrico Fermi once remarked that we can measure any physical quantity without using any instrument, just by estimating it. He demonstrated the same by estimating the yield of an atomic explosion at ‘The Trinity Site’ in 1945 by hurling in the air pieces of confetti that he cut from notebook paper, and further tedious calculations showed that he was more or less right. Scientists then came to believe that any quantity can be measured without an instrument, if you know how.

But there is one quantity that’s impossible to measure. Each one of us knows it, some find it stupid, some are enthralled by it, but none of us has been able to escape it. It is the feeling of love, that we feel for our family, our friends, and ultimately, for our life partner. Years of scientific research on why we feel what we feel has led us to believe that it is actually a chemical combination of hormones that makes us love someone. Another explanation for why our parents love us so much is that because we are an extension of their DNA, the parent DNA loves the child DNA, feels hurt when the child is hurt, angry when the child is in danger, and concerned when the child is upset. This article isn’t a result of any research or sudden epiphany, but just like all of my write ups, is a culmination of a passing thought materialising into words.

BJP’s Mission 272+

“Politics is a number game”

Looking at the mood of the nation and the current state of affairs of the country, rampant corruption in each and every government department be it the State government or the Central government, change is the mantra of the nation. Capitalizing on the anti-incumbency of the Central government the BJP, principal opposition party of the country took a slew of measures like naming Prime Ministerial candidate Mr Narendra Modi, bringing back Mr B. S. Yeddyurappa, launching advertisements and the Mission 272+.

For a party to form a government at centre needs at least 272 Member of Parliament in the lower house of Parliament, Lok Sabha. And BJP on its own has never touched this ‘Magic Figure’ the best BJP did was 189 in the 13th Lok Sabha, With this two things in mind the Bhartiya Janta Party launched its Mission 272+ under the leadership of Mr Modi to win as many seats on its own knowing completely that their poster boy Modi cannot attract many parties to NDA.

The Clay Court Conundrum

Tennis has always been a sport of specialists. When you are a tennis player, you are either good at this or you are good at that. You are either a good baseline-player or a good serve-and-volleyer. Either a clay-court specialist a grass-court specialist or a hard-court specialist. All-rounder is a term rarely used in tennis. One might go as far to say that in the open era only Roger Federer has come closest to being an all-rounder. But one look at his record against a certain Spaniard on clay is all it takes to throw his 'clay-court specialist' tag out of the window.

This is what makes clay-court the most powerful variable in tennis. It can influence the ranking, the head-to-heads more than anything. Primarily because playing on a clay-court is worlds apart to playing on a hard-court or grass-court. Secondly because of the number of clay-court tournaments in the ATP calender. Now there can be a valid argument here that this number is approximately equal to the number of hard-court tournaments. But it is easier for a clay-court specialist to play well on other surfaces than the other way round. The chance of David Ferrer winning on hard-courts is considerably higher than Andy Murray winning the French Open. This has all worked in the favour of the clay-court specialists. They find it easier to make a place for themselves, easier to earn ranking points and thus, prize money as opposed to a grass-court specialist who will not get more than 2-3 tournaments a year on his favoured surface. A prime example would be the initial years of Rafa Nadal and Andy Murray.

What is Android

What is Android?

Yeah, Android is an operating system from Google for cell phones, tablets and many other devices coming in the near future. But how it all started? What’s the story behind it? Why is Android chosen as an operating system for most of the devices? Let us common people who aren’t big geeks learn a few things about it.

The Seed of Mahabharata

Everyone around the world is familiar with the epic war fought around 4000 years ago on the battle grounds of Kurukshetra, MAHABHARATA.

Like every fight, Mahabharata is fondly coined as ‘the fight between the good and evil’ which may not be correct in all its senses. Mahabharata was fought primarily for the throne of Hastinapur. The reasons of Justice and Righteousness were secondary that came along as a cover up.

The Marketing Genius

His palatial residence in Bandra is one of the most famous buildings in the country, and is also one of the most expensive homes in the world. You’ll find an opulent library in one of the corners of his house, which he fondly calls his ‘study’, one of the places in his house where he enjoys a carefree smoke. He’s also notorious for his chain smoking habit, but that in no way deters him from being one of the most energetic entertainers in the world. You can love him, you can hate him, but you sure cannot ignore him. Bow down to the rightly titled ‘King Khan’ – Shah Rukh Khan.

Breaking away from the literal meaning of his name that means ‘One with the face of a prince’, SRK as he’s fondly called by his humongous fan base, is extraordinarily ordinary looking. He symbolises all of us who have a dream, and is an inspiration to those who are willing to go through thick and thin to reach where he is today. He deserves his stardom, the respect he garners wherever he goes, and the love that is showered on him whenever he passes through the smallest of the by lanes.

Introducing New Section

We are indeed overwhelmed by the marvelous response that we have got in these first few days of ScribblerZeal. We acknowledge your support and appreciation, and promise to improve on your suggestions. With this initial success, we are encouraged to grow even bigger.

Elections form the basis for any democratic system. But in India, elections bring in a different atmosphere altogether. Newspapers are filled with political gossips, media channels argue on strengths and weaknesses of political leaders, the nukkad chaiwala starts talking about reviving India’s economy, your favorite movies are interrupted by long Party advertisements, local politicians ring your doorbell for votes… and the list goes on. Amidst all this, you stand puzzled, wondering whose promises are true. So, to create awareness about the political scenario in India, to unveil the actual face of the sly rajneeti, ScribberZeal brings to you a new section: POLITICS, which would be LAUNCHED TOMORROW.

We are proud to welcome in our team two experienced writers and political activists Suresh Siripuram and Dr. Mahesh Kulkarni to write for us under this new section.

Is this the fall of mighty Manchester United ?

It’s safe to say David Moyes hasn’t had things going his way in his short time in charge at Manchester united. United have lost 5 out of their first 9 fixtures in 2014 and started the new year with 3 consecutive defeats, you might have to go years back to search when did this last happen which simply shows how strong and consistent Manchester united have been for last few decades. But the real question is- Is this the fall of Manchester united or can Moyes turn his season around and win over the fans at Old Trafford.

The Beginning

The stars were scattered all over the sky and cool breeze blew. The freshly mown grass was lush green and had a sweet earthy scent. The huge widespread lawn looked like heaven. The trees, tables, chairs and decorative poles glittered and shone in bright lights wrapped around them. The rest of the lawn was decked up in silver and golden mesh fabric casually strewn around in a pattern. A fresh flowery scent lingered all over. In the centre of the lawn was an artificial stage, lit in colourful twinkling lights, with beautifully sculptured pillars and a sparkling drape all over.

Lenovo, The next Samsung?

Although China controls the world economy and is the world leader in exports, if I ask you to name a Chinese Company that is a big brand globally, I am sure it would keep you thinking. Not many would know that Lenovo is a Chinese Multinational with its products being sold in more than 160 countries. By the end of 2013, Lenovo had crossed HP, Dell and Apple to be the largest seller of personal computers in the World. Lenovo entered the smartphone market in 2012. As of 2014, it is the largest seller of smartphones in China and the fifth largest in the World. It is now aggressively heading towards capturing the smartphone market worldwide.
